Johann Adam Weishaupt was a German philosopher, writer and founder of the Order of the Illuminati, a secret society established in Bavaria, Germany. Weishaupt graduated from Jesuit high school, studied law, history, political science and philosophy. He was a university professor of canon law (Roman Catholic).
