Delphine Seyrig

Delphine Seyrig was born on April 10, 1932, in Beirut, Lebanon, into an intellectual family with strong cultural roots. Raised in a cosmopolitan environment, she was attracted to the performing arts from a young age, studying acting in both France and the United States.

She became known in the 1960s thanks to her fascinating role in the film “Last Year at Marienbad”, directed by Alain Resnais – a film considered emblematic of the unconventional narrative style of the era. Throughout her career, Seyrig collaborated with renowned directors such as François Truffaut, Luis Buñuel and Chantal Akerman, becoming an emblematic figure of art cinema.

Beyond her acting talent, Delphine Seyrig also stood out as an activist for women's rights. In the 1970s and 1980s, she was actively involved in the feminist movements in France and supported numerous cultural projects dedicated to women. She was the co-founder of the Audiovisual Center "Simone de Beauvoir", an initiative that aimed to promote female artistic creations.

She left the stage of life in 1990, but her elegant image, distinctive voice and courage to support progressive ideas continue to inspire generations of artists and activists.
