Alexandru Robot (Al. Robot)

Alexandru Robot, born Alter Rotmann, also known as Al. Robot was a Romanian, Moldavian and Soviet poet, who was also known as a novelist and journalist. Noted first as a member of Romanian literary clubs and close to modernist and avant-garde literary currents, he developed a poetic style based on borrowings from symbolist and expressionist literature.

Also considered a "hermeticist" due to the lack of lexical clarity of some of his poems, as well as for the similarity of his style to that of Ion Barbu, Robot was noted, in particular, for his pastoral poems, in which he combined modernist elements and traditionalist themes.
