Aeschylus

Aeschylus is one of the most important playwrights of ancient Greece and is known as one of the three great tragedians of classical Athens, along with Euripides and Sophocles. He is believed to have been born around 525 BC. in the city of Eleusis, and his life was marked by participation in the Greco-Persian wars, events that substantially influenced his works.

Aeschylus is notable for bringing a number of innovations to Greek theatre, including the introduction of a second actor on stage and the development of dialogue, which led to greater complexity and dynamics in his plays. It also contributed significantly to the traditional structure of Greek tragedy, emphasizing major conflicts between humans and gods, and exploring themes such as responsibility, divine justice, and human nature.

Among his best-known works are "Prometheus in Chains," which explores the theme of rebellion against divine authority, and "The Oresteia," a trilogy that investigates the concepts of vendetta and justice in ancient Greek society.

His death occurred around 456 BC, and his literary and cultural legacy continues to be deeply influential in Western literature and theater.
