Venerable Paisios the Great (abba Bishoy of Scetis or Pishoy) was a great hermit and theologian of the 4th century, originally from Egypt. He is known for his extremely rigorous ascetic life and for his spiritual wisdom. He lived in the Nitrian Desert, where he became a model of virtue and holiness for many monks.

He is considered one of the Desert Fathers and is highly respected in the Orthodox tradition. His spiritual writings, preserved in the Egyptian Patericon, provide practical guidance for the spiritual life.

His feast day in the Orthodox Church is June 19.
