James Callaghan was a British politician, a member of the Labour Party, and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1976 to 1979. He was the only British politician to hold all four major offices of the British government: Prime Minister, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, and Home Secretary.
